The Impact of Transformational Leadership on Employees' Innovative Behavior: A Case Study from Beijing Technology Zone

Abstract

Corporate innovation is an essential element of business management. It is a
critical factor in determining the future direction of a company. From the whole
company management to the specific business operation, corporate innovation runs
through every department and every detail. The primary task of enterprise innovation
is management innovation. With the scientific development of management,
corporate management is gradually developing from centralized to flat. The
management style of leaders and employees has fundamentally changed, putting
forward new requirements for leaders. It is necessary to link the leadership style with
employees' innovative behaviour.
The connotation of transformational leadership is related to change and
innovation and has received much attention from scholars. Transformational
leadership can influence employees' behaviour and stimulate their potential so that
they can pursue higher self-actualization. On a psychological level, transformational
leadership can enhance employees' confidence in innovation and encourage
innovative behaviour. As a large developing country, China must inspire employees'
trust in creation to achieve independent innovation. Selecting appropriate variables
to measure employees' innovation confidence is a focus and difficulty of this study.
Based on this, for companies, how to effectively stimulate employees'
innovation to put their knowledge and talent into the company and reflect good innovative behaviour is an issue that these companies should pay attention to and
thus needs further research.
This paper is divided into five major parts. The first part, which is also the first
chapter, mainly describes the research background of this independent study, the
research's current status, the study's importance, the investigation's objectives, the
research's contributions, and the limitations of the research. The second part, which
is also the second chapter, focuses on the theoretical overview of this independent
study on transformational leadership and employee innovation behaviour by sorting
out and summarizing the research results of domestic and foreign scholars. The third
part is the third methodological chapter, which mainly elaborates on the question
composition and measurement method of the transformational leadership and
employee innovative behaviour scale of this study, presents the research hypothesis
of this study, defines the overall analysis, sample size, and sampling method, and
details the questionnaire data collection method. The fourth part is Chapter 4, which
focuses on organizing and analyzing the recovered questionnaire data through
RStudio data analysis software, exploring the relationship between personality
variables and transformational leadership and employee innovation behaviour, and
analyzing the correlation between each dimension of transformational leadership
and employee innovation behaviour through regression analysis method. The fifth
part is Chapter 5, which composes the analysis results of Chapter 4 and concludes
that there is a positive correlation between transformational leadership and
employees' innovative behaviour. Future improvements and enhancements in the
management process of companies are discussed, as well as prospects and
suggestions for future related research.
